The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of suspects linked to a kidnap syndicate, the rescue of abducted victims, and the recovery of firearms and ammunition during an operation in Kaduna State, the Force Public Relations Officer said.
Kidnapping and armed abductions have been recurring security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria, with security agencies conducting ongoing operations to address the threat.
The Nigeria Police Force routinely reports arrests and recoveries linked to criminal gangs involved in kidnapping and related offences.
The Force operates under the legal framework of the Nigeria Police Act and cooperates with other security agencies to combat violent crime.
In a statement on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said officers from the Kaduna State Police Command raided locations suspected to be camps used by a kidnap syndicate.
Adejobi said the operation resulted in the rescue of kidnapped victims held by the syndicate.
He said police also recovered one AK‑47 rifle, a pistol, and a substantial quantity of assorted ammunition from the suspects.
The police spokesman added that several suspects were arrested in connection with the activities of the syndicate.
Adejobi noted that the victims rescued during the operation were taken to safety and placed under appropriate care.
Police said the operation aimed at disrupting criminal networks involved in violent abductions and restoring public safety in the affected areas.
The police operation reflects ongoing efforts by security agencies to address kidnapping and armed criminal activity in Kaduna State.
Law enforcement agencies said such actions are part of wider enforcement measures to protect citizens and maintain public order.
The seizures of weapons and ammunition may affect the operational capacity of criminal groups linked to kidnapping activities in the area.
