PocketMoni Financial Inclusion Expands as eTranzact Deploys 1,000 Agents in Ogun

PocketMoni financial inclusion efforts have received a major boost in Ogun State as eTranzact International Plc expands its digital banking initiative across Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, onboarding more than 1,000 agents and deploying thousands of PocketMoni terminals to underserved communities.

The initiative, implemented through the company’s PocketMoni Business platform, is designed to improve access to digital financial services while creating new income opportunities for residents, entrepreneurs and small business owners in rural communities.

The programme is being executed in partnership with the Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC), Obafemi Owode, as part of eTranzact’s broader strategy to extend financial services beyond urban centres and bring essential banking solutions closer to people at the grassroots.

With the expanding network of agents and terminals, residents can now access services such as cash withdrawals, money transfers, bill payments and other financial transactions within their communities, reducing the need for long-distance travel to conventional banking facilities. The company said the PocketMoni financial inclusion initiative is focused on making digital financial services more accessible while supporting economic participation at the community level.

Chairman of the Zonal Community Development Committee, Obafemi Owode, Engineer Gboyega Kareem Adeleke, described the project as a meaningful intervention that is improving financial access and supporting local economic development. According to him, residents previously travelled considerable distances to complete simple banking transactions such as cash withdrawals and bill payments.

“Before PocketMoni came, our people had to travel far for simple withdrawals and bill payments. Today, those services are available within our communities through people we know and trust. This is development that directly impacts lives, and we commend eTranzact for bringing these opportunities to the grassroots,” Adeleke said.

Divisional Head of Financial Inclusion at eTranzact International Plc, Olalekan Disu, said the project demonstrates the value of taking financial services directly into local communities. He noted that expanding financial access goes beyond providing banking products and includes creating sustainable economic opportunities through trusted community agents.

“Financial inclusion is not just about opening access to financial products; it is about creating opportunities and building trust within communities. By empowering local agents and deploying thousands of terminals, we are helping to stimulate economic activity, create livelihoods and make financial services more accessible to people at the grassroots,” Disu said.

The continued expansion of the PocketMoni financial inclusion programme reflects growing efforts to bridge financial access gaps, strengthen digital payments and support economic growth in underserved communities across Nigeria.
