A 36-year-old Nigerian man, Fawaz Abdulkareem, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom after being convicted of a fatal stabbing during a dispute in a residential flat in Vauxhall, London. The court ruled that the offence amounted to murder, marking a case that resulted in a life sentence stabbing conviction. The life sentence stabbing judgement was delivered at Croydon Crown Court on June 5, with the convict ordered to serve a minimum of 17 years before eligibility for parole.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred on July 5, 2025, at a residential building on Bondway in Vauxhall. Officers were called to the scene in the early hours following reports of a stabbing inside the apartment complex.
The case formed part of ongoing efforts by UK authorities to address violent crime in residential communities and ensure accountability for serious offences involving bladed weapons. Investigators said the victim, 32-year-old Daniel Manuel, was found with severe injuries in the lobby of the building.
Police reports indicated that Manuel was initially treated at the scene by officers and paramedics but was later pronounced dead despite emergency medical intervention.
The Metropolitan Police said the victim and Abdulkareem had spent time with friends earlier in the evening before returning to the defendant’s flat, where an argument later escalated into violence. Prosecutors told the court that during the dispute, Manuel was fatally stabbed. Abdulkareem was arrested at the scene and charged the following day.
Investigators later recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack. The weapon was reportedly discarded from an upper floor of the building after the incident. Following a full trial, a jury found Abdulkareem guilty of murder and possession of a bladed article, resulting in a life sentence stabbing ruling at Croydon Crown Court.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 17 years before he becomes eligible for parole consideration. Detective Inspector Luke Hampton, who led the investigation, said the conviction was the result of extensive police work and cooperation among investigative teams.
“Our thoughts remain with Daniel’s family, and we hope this sentence provides them with some measure of comfort,” he said.
In a statement read after sentencing, the victim’s wife, Zulal, described Daniel Manuel as a central figure in her life and expressed the deep emotional impact of his death on their family. She spoke of the lasting grief and the void left by his absence, following the fatal incident that led to the life sentence stabbing conviction.
