Three kidnapped persons have regained their freedom after a joint security operation in Kaduna State led to the successful rescue of the victims and the arrest of five suspected informants linked to a kidnapping syndicate. The operation, which resulted in the kidnap victims rescued after more than 40 days in captivity, was carried out through coordinated intelligence and security efforts. Police authorities said the victims rescued were found unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.
Kidnapping remains one of the major security challenges confronting several communities across northern Nigeria, with criminal groups often targeting residents for ransom and other illegal activities. Security agencies in Kaduna State have continued to intensify intelligence gathering and joint operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks responsible for abductions, banditry, and related crimes.
The latest operation represents another effort by law enforcement agencies to disrupt kidnapping syndicates and strengthen public safety in affected communities.
The Kaduna State Police Command disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.
According to Hassan, the rescue mission was executed by a joint security team led by personnel from Fushin Kada in collaboration with the Divisional Police Officer in Hunkuyi. He explained that the operation followed sustained intelligence gathering, strategic surveillance, and coordinated security actions that led operatives to a suspected bandits’ hideout.
“Upon sighting the advancing security personnel, the bandits fled the area, abandoning the victims who were subsequently rescued unharmed,” Hassan stated.
The kidnap victims rescued were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu of Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa of Tufa Village in Niger State.
Police authorities said the victims had spent more than 40 days in captivity before the successful operation secured their release. Following the rescue, the victims were taken to a police medical facility for examination and treatment before being reunited with their relatives.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that five suspected informants were arrested during the course of investigations linked to the case. According to Hassan, preliminary findings indicated that the suspects allegedly provided information and logistical support to members of the kidnapping syndicate.
“The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation,” he stated.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the professionalism and collaboration demonstrated by security personnel involved in the operation.
He praised the coordinated efforts among security agencies, noting that intelligence-led operations remain critical in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes. Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining efforts against criminal elements operating within the state.
The commissioner also appealed to residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information. According to him, community cooperation remains essential for the success of ongoing security operations and the prevention of criminal activities.
The successful operation highlights the growing role of intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration in addressing kidnapping threats. Security experts have consistently emphasized that local information and community support are vital in tracking criminal networks and preventing future attacks.
The arrest of suspected informants also underscores the importance of targeting support structures that enable criminal groups to operate.
The Kaduna State Police Command has reaffirmed its determination to combat kidnapping and violent crime following the operation that saw kidnap victims rescued after more than 40 days in captivity. Authorities say investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network, while efforts remain focused on improving security across the state.
