The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 UTME mop-up results, marking the completion of a supplementary examination conducted for eligible candidates affected by disruptions during the main examination. The development paves the way for the next stage of the admission process, including candidate ranking and the preparation of admission-related result documents.
The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) serves as the primary entrance assessment for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The main 2026 UTME was conducted between April 16 and April 25.
To address challenges experienced by some candidates, JAMB organised a mop-up examination on June 13, 2026. The exercise was designed for candidates who had been biometrically verified for the main examination but were unable to sit for the test due to technical glitches, biometric verification difficulties, and other disruptions at their examination centres.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, announced the release of the UTME mop-up results in a statement issued on Tuesday. He stated that candidates who participated in the examination can access their results through the board’s approved result-checking channels.
According to Benjamin, the board is moving immediately to the next phase of the admission process following the release of the results. He said, “Following the successful conclusion of the mop-up exercise and the release of the results, the board will commence the ranking of candidates.
“Thereafter, the printing of results for admission purposes is expected to begin before the weekend.”
The release of the UTME mop-up results concludes a process aimed at ensuring that affected candidates were given another opportunity to participate in the examination under approved conditions.
The commencement of candidate ranking is a significant step in Nigeria’s tertiary admission cycle. Ranking enables institutions and relevant admission authorities to begin evaluating candidates based on established admission criteria.
The development is also expected to support timely admission planning by universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions that rely on JAMB examination outcomes during the admission process. The availability of UTME mop-up results helps ensure that eligible candidates affected by earlier disruptions remain part of the admission exercise.
With the release of the supplementary examination results, JAMB has completed another key stage in the 2026 admission process. The board says candidate ranking will commence immediately, while the printing of results for admission purposes is expected before the weekend. Candidates are advised to check their results through JAMB’s approved channels as preparations for admissions continue nationwide.
