Gbenga Hashim Welcomes US-Iran Peace Agreement Efforts

Presidential candidate of the Accord Party and Co-Chairman of the Movement for Democratic Renewal (MDR), Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has welcomed the US-Iran peace agreement aimed at ending hostilities and promoting stability in the Middle East. Speaking during a brief visit to Dakar, Senegal, he described the development as a positive step toward reducing tensions in a region with significant global economic and security importance. He also commended governments and international partners involved in the diplomatic process.

The agreement between the United States and Iran comes amid international efforts to ease tensions and encourage dialogue in the Middle East. Developments in the region often attract global attention because of their implications for security, energy supply, trade routes, and investment flows. As a major energy-producing region, the Middle East plays a central role in global economic activity. Changes in regional stability can influence international markets and affect countries far beyond the immediate area.

Dr. Hashim praised the parties involved in facilitating the agreement and highlighted the importance of diplomacy in resolving international disputes.

He said: “I welcome the agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the conflict and restoring stability to the Middle East.” He added: “I commend President Donald Trump, the Governments of Iran, Qatar and Pakistan, alongside other international partners whose efforts helped create the conditions for peace.”

The Accord Party presidential candidate noted that diplomacy continues to be a critical tool for addressing complex international challenges. According to him, the US-Iran peace agreement demonstrates how dialogue can contribute to conflict resolution during periods of global uncertainty.

Hashim also emphasized the broader implications of stability in the Middle East, stating: “Stability in the Middle East is important not only for the region, but also for global security, energy markets, trade, and economic development.”

“The world’s economies are interconnected, and disruptions in one region often create consequences across continents.”

Hashim argued that the US-Iran peace agreement carries significance for Nigeria and the wider African continent. He said a stable international environment supports economic development, trade opportunities, and investment prospects for emerging economies.

He further stressed the importance of continued international cooperation and diplomatic engagement, noting that peaceful relations among nations contribute to a more predictable global economic environment. According to him, Nigeria and African countries have a vested interest in supporting initiatives that encourage dialogue, stability, and mutual understanding among states.

Dr. Hashim expressed optimism that the agreement would contribute to reducing tensions in the Middle East while strengthening global efforts toward peaceful coexistence and economic stability. He urged nations to sustain support for diplomatic initiatives and international cooperation, maintaining that lasting peace remains essential for shared prosperity and development across regions of the world.

“A peaceful international environment creates better opportunities for development. Nigeria and Africa must continue to support efforts that advance peace, cooperation, and stability among nations,” he added.
