The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced the rescheduling of visa appointments in Abuja following concerns over possible protests in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a notice shared on its official X account, the embassy said its Abuja office would be closed for routine business until Monday, March 9, 2026, as a precautionary measure due to the potential demonstrations in the city.
According to the embassy, visa appointments originally scheduled for March 4 and March 5 have been moved to new dates next week.
The embassy also stated that American Citizen Services (ACS) appointments planned for March 5 have been rescheduled.
Applicants affected by the changes were advised to check their email messages or log into their AVITS accounts to see their updated appointment dates.
Similarly, individuals who scheduled appointments for American Citizen Services were urged to review their email notifications for details of their new appointment dates.
The embassy further noted that visa applicants who do not receive a new appointment date should contact the consular section through the Visa Navigator platform for assistance.
It also encouraged members of the public to continue monitoring its official website and social media channels for additional updates regarding consular services in Abuja.
