Nigeria Revenue Service HQ inaugurated in Abuja by President Tinubu on April 14

Nigeria Revenue Service HQ was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in Abuja by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s tax administration system. The event marked the formal commissioning of the newly completed headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in the Federal Capital Territory. The Nigeria Revenue Service HQ is expected to serve as the central administrative hub for revenue operations following the transition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service to the restructured agency.

The Nigeria Revenue Service was created following major reforms aimed at strengthening tax administration and improving national revenue generation. The agency replaced the Federal Inland Revenue Service as part of a broader restructuring of Nigeria’s fiscal management framework.

The newly commissioned headquarters is located in Abuja’s Central Business District and represents one of the most significant infrastructure projects tied to the country’s revenue administration reforms. The development aligns with government efforts to modernise operations, improve efficiency, and expand institutional capacity within the tax system.

During the inauguration of the Nigeria Revenue Service HQ, President Tinubu formally opened the facility and highlighted its role in supporting national revenue reforms. The building is a modern multi-tower complex designed to accommodate thousands of staff and streamline administrative functions within the agency.

According to official details shared at the event, the headquarters is structured as a three-tower facility with multiple floors and the capacity to house over 3,000 personnel. It is designed to centralise operations and improve coordination across different departments of the revenue service. The commissioning also reflects the transition of the Federal Inland Revenue Service into the Nigeria Revenue Service under a broader reform agenda aimed at strengthening compliance systems and improving revenue performance.

Officials at the event noted that the Nigeria Revenue Service HQ is intended to support digital transformation initiatives, enhance tax administration efficiency, and improve service delivery to taxpayers across the country. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials and representatives of key national institutions involved in fiscal and economic governance.

The commissioning of the Nigeria Revenue Service HQ signals a continued push by the federal government to reform Nigeria’s revenue system and improve fiscal capacity. The centralisation of operations is expected to support better coordination and enforcement of tax policies. It also reflects broader economic management reforms aimed at increasing non-oil revenue generation, improving compliance systems, and strengthening institutional capacity within revenue administration structures.
