The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published the names and photographs of 10 Nigerians listed on its “Worst of the Worst” register amid the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration enforcement campaign.
The latest publication features Nigerians arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over alleged offences including fraud, identity theft, drug-related crimes, assault, conspiracy and offences involving children.
The individuals listed by DHS are Temitope Bashua, Ojehoro Lewis, Osemudiamen Kingsley Oziegbe, Daniel Oworen, Raymond H. Ekevwo, Franklin Dikeocha, Johnson Ogunlana, Chukwuemeka Okorocha, Tunde Korede and Chukwuemeka Chinye.
According to the department, Bashua is linked to allegations of wire fraud, identity theft and fraud in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, while Lewis was arrested in Conroe, Texas, over alleged cruelty towards a child.
Kinsley Oziegbe was listed over an alleged wire fraud case in Louisville, Kentucky, while Oworen was associated with a dangerous drugs case in Conroe, Texas. Ekevwo was also listed over an alleged wire fraud case in Oxford, Wisconsin.
DHS identified Dikeocha in connection with an alleged sex offence involving a child in Dallas, Texas, while Ogunlana was listed over fraud and identity theft allegations in White Deer, Pennsylvania.
Okorocha was listed over allegations including wire fraud, dangerous drugs, possession of a weapon and aggravated assault involving a non-family gun in Allenwood, Pennsylvania.
Korede was listed over an alleged conspiracy case in Allenwood, while Chinye was linked to allegations involving larceny from a banking-type institution, fraud, larceny, identity theft and conspiracy in Pollock, Louisiana.
The DHS said its “Worst of the Worst” register was created to highlight immigrants it describes as the most serious criminal offenders arrested by ICE.
Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said the latest enforcement actions were part of efforts to remove what the administration considers dangerous undocumented immigrants from the United States.
“Every day, the patriots of ICE are working to target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our country,” Mullin said.
He added that the administration would continue pursuing deportation actions under President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
DHS similarly said its latest publication reflected the administration’s commitment to mass deportations, stating that enforcement would begin with immigrants it considers the “worst of the worst.”
The publication of the 10 Nigerians deported comes about a month after DHS released another register containing 124 Nigerians arrested by ICE.
That earlier list, published in July, contained Nigerians associated with various alleged criminal offences. However, DHS did not provide specific deportation dates for those individuals.
The latest publication also does not indicate specific dates on which the 10 Nigerians would be deported.
The development comes amid the Trump administration’s broader immigration crackdown, which has placed increased emphasis on arrests and deportations of undocumented immigrants accused of criminal offences.
