JAMB releases UTME results for Thursday candidates as 632,788 scores published

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the JAMB UTME results for candidates who sat the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with a total of 632,788 results made available for access. The release marks the first batch of results from the ongoing nationwide examination exercise.

The JAMB UTME results form part of a phased release process adopted by the examination body as candidates continue to sit for the 2026 UTME across accredited Computer-Based Test centres nationwide. UTME is Nigeria’s centralised examination for admission into tertiary institutions, conducted annually by JAMB for millions of candidates. In 2026, over 2.2 million candidates are expected to participate in the examination, which runs from April 16 to April 22.

The Board typically releases results in batches after completing post-examination processing and verification procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with examination standards. JAMB confirmed that the JAMB UTME results released cover candidates who participated in the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026. A total of 632,788 candidates can now access their scores.

According to the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration. The Board clarified that candidates are currently able to view their results, while printing options will be made available at a later stage.

JAMB also noted that the examination process is still ongoing, and additional batches of results will be released as marking and verification continue. The release aligns with the Board’s earlier assurance that results for the first day of the examination would be made available shortly after completion of processing.

The release of the JAMB UTME results provides early feedback to candidates and marks a critical stage in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process. Timely access to results enables candidates to begin planning their admission choices, including post-UTME screening processes conducted by tertiary institutions. It also reflects ongoing efforts by the examination body to improve efficiency in result processing and reduce waiting periods for candidates.
