Businessman and politician Abdulrahman Haske has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and joined the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, ahead of the 2027 Adamawa State governorship election.
Haske joins APM as the party’s governorship candidate after he was formally unveiled at an event held on Saturday in Yola. He said his decision was driven by a desire to pursue a people-centred development agenda for Adamawa State.
The declaration attracted APM leaders, traditional and community leaders, youth and women groups, as well as supporters from the state’s 21 local government areas.
Speaking at the event, Haske described his move as “a convergence of principle and purpose.” He said his campaign would focus on accountable leadership, economic empowerment, youth inclusion and sustainable development.
“Today is not merely about joining a political party; it is about strengthening a movement dedicated to the future of Adamawa State,” he said.
Haske said an administration under his leadership would prioritise agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment and security, while promoting transparent governance.
He also thanked the national leadership of the APM for giving him the party’s ticket, promising to justify the confidence placed in him through dedicated service.
The National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said Haske’s political philosophy was consistent with the party’s ideals.
Dantalle said the party reached its decision after extensive consultations and described Haske as a candidate capable of offering alternative leadership to the people of Adamawa.
“After extensive consultations, we are convinced that Abdulrahman Haske embodies the values and principles for which the Allied Peoples Movement stands,” he said.
According to him, Haske’s commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive development and stronger communities influenced the party’s decision to support his candidacy.
The Adamawa State Chairman of the APM, Badejo Bello, also welcomed Haske, describing him as a “bridgebuilder” who understands the challenges and opportunities facing the state.
Bello said the party was confident that Haske’s candidacy would help deliver what he described as “genuine transformation, renewed hope and sustainable progress” in Adamawa.
The event ended with a call for unity among APM members and supporters as the party begins mobilisation ahead of the 2027 Adamawa governorship election.
