The Federal Civil Service Commission, FCSC, has opened online accreditation for civil servants participating in the 2026 promotion exercise.
The accreditation is specifically for officers on Salary Grade Levels 14, 15 and 16, with the Commission directing eligible candidates to complete the process within the stipulated period.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Zakariyya, said the online exercise would run from August 14 to August 28, 2026. The Commission said the initiative followed a directive from its Chairman and was designed to make the promotion process more transparent, organised and timely.
According to the FCSC, eligible officers will access the designated promotion portal using login credentials that will be sent to their registered email addresses. Candidates were advised to monitor their email accounts and complete the accreditation process once their login details are received.
The Commission stressed that officers should not wait until the final day before attempting to complete the process. This, it said, would give candidates enough time to address any technical or administrative challenges that might arise during accreditation.
The Commission warned that the accreditation portal would close on August 28, 2026, and there would be no extension of the deadline. Officers who fail to complete their accreditation within the specified period will not be accommodated in the current exercise.
Instead, such officers will have to present themselves for accreditation again in 2027. The warning makes timely completion particularly important for officers seeking consideration in the 2026 promotion exercise.
The FCSC also instructed Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Executive Officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, to ensure that every eligible officer is informed about the exercise. The directive covers officers working both within and outside their organisations’ headquarters.
It also extends to civil servants currently on foreign assignments. The Commission said the instruction was necessary to ensure that eligible officers are not left out of the process because they were unaware of the accreditation requirement.
The FCSC promotion exercise is part of the Commission’s broader responsibility for managing promotion and career progression within the Federal Civil Service. With the accreditation window opening on August 14, affected officers on GL 14, 15 and 16 are expected to complete the online process before the August 28 deadline.
