The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated its commitment to inclusion and welfare enhancement as it distributed cash and food items to hundreds of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Abuja. The initiative, part of ongoing welfare interventions, highlights efforts aimed at strengthening persons with disabilities programmes across the country. Party leaders said the PWD support APC initiative reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities are actively included in national development.
The distribution exercise took place on Tuesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, bringing together beneficiaries from various disability clusters across the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding communities.
The initiative was organised to provide immediate relief to vulnerable groups while also promoting greater participation of persons with disabilities in political, social, and economic activities. According to party officials, the programme forms part of a wider framework aimed at enhancing inclusivity within the party’s structure and national policy direction.
The intervention was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the APC National Leader of Persons with Disabilities, Tolu Bankole.
Speaking on behalf of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, his Principal Private Secretary, Jibrin Bancir, welcomed beneficiaries to the party secretariat and reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to disability inclusion.
“I’m standing here on behalf of the National Chairman to appreciate you and welcome you to the APC National Secretariat,” Bancir said.
He stated that the party leadership remains committed to ensuring that persons with disabilities benefit from government programmes and party initiatives.
“The little the APC National Leader of Persons with Disabilities, Aare Hon. Tolu Bankole, is doing, the National Chairman is backing him so that more PWDs will see the benefit of being members of APC. This is a party you belong to, and you are aware of what our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is doing to advance the cause of our country,” he added.
He further encouraged beneficiaries to remain supportive of the party’s agenda and national leadership.
Also speaking, Tolu Bankole expressed appreciation to the APC leadership for its continued support toward disability-focused initiatives. He described the distribution exercise as part of sustained efforts to provide relief and expand opportunities for persons with disabilities across Nigeria.
“We are stronger together. I appreciate the support of the National Chairman for his love and commitment to PWDs nationwide. He has shown leadership and comradeship,” Bankole said.
He added that the programme included distribution of cash and food items to beneficiaries as part of immediate welfare support.
“Today at the National Secretariat, we continue the distribution of cash and foodstuffs support to PWDs. Thanks to our dependable National Chairman for encouragement, support and leadership. We are stronger together,” he stated.
Beneficiaries drawn from different disability groups, including visually impaired and hearing-impaired persons, expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely support amid prevailing economic challenges.
The event also served as a platform to advocate stronger inclusion of persons with disabilities in governance, economic participation, and public life. The APC urged government institutions, private organisations, and development partners to intensify efforts toward removing barriers that limit opportunities for PWDs.
Party officials maintained that disability inclusion remains a key priority under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with calls for collaborative action to ensure equal access to opportunities.
