US Military Aircraft Deliver Ammunition to Borno and Other Northeastern Bases

Multiple United States military aircraft have landed in Nigeria’s Borno State and other parts of the northeast carrying ammunition supplied by the American government, senior officers at Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters said.

The aircraft landings occurred between Thursday and Friday, according to a report by PUNCH.
The missions form part of ongoing security cooperation between the United States and Nigeria focused on counter-insurgency operations in the northeast.

Senior officers at the Defence Headquarters told reporters the aircraft brought ammunition intended to support Nigeria’s efforts against armed groups operating in the region.

The report noted that three US military aircraft were seen at a base in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, and equipment was offloaded.

Officials said the deliveries followed bilateral discussions between Nigeria and the US on security cooperation.

The officers described the flights as part of operational logistics to replenish ammunition stocks for Nigerian military platforms.

Reports also note that additional aircraft carrying personnel and equipment were expected to arrive in the coming days.

The ammunition deliveries reflect continuing security cooperation between the United States and Nigeria amid ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the northeast.

Logistical support of this nature may assist Nigerian forces’ operational capacity in contested areas, including Borno State.
