The outgoing Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps reported that the Corps arrested 4,677 suspected economic saboteurs and generated over ₦4.4 billion in revenue during his five‑year tenure.
Commandant‑General Ahmed Abubakar Audi delivered the account of the Corps’ activities from March 2021 to date during his pull‑out ceremony in Abuja.
He summarised achievements of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps while marking the end of his service.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is a uniformed security agency tasked with protecting national critical infrastructure, combating vandalism and providing general civil defence support across Nigeria.
Audi said that from March 2021 to February 2026, the Corps arrested a total of 4,677 people suspected of involvement in economic sabotage and related offences.
He said 2,039 of those cases are currently being prosecuted and 638 individuals have been convicted.
The outgoing commandant general reported that the Corps generated ₦4,476,237,986 in revenue to the Consolidated Revenue Fund over the period.
He said the revenue was collected from various operations and remitted directly to the central government account.
In addition to arrests and revenue generation, Audi said the Corps destroyed 283 illegal refineries as part of its anti‑vandalism operations and registered 376 new private guard companies, with 3,869 licences renewed.
He said 443 companies were sealed for failing to meet operational requirements and 241 were reopened after compliance.
He also noted that the Corps held 467 stakeholders’ meetings nationwide and trained 15,157 guards during his tenure.
The Corps also handled 52 complaints and recovered ₦3.3 million on behalf of complainants, according to his statement.
The figures presented by the outgoing commandant general provide an overview of the Corps’ enforcement, revenue and regulatory activities over five years.
The data highlights the scope of operations led by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, including activities that span enforcement, capacity building and industry regulation.
