Nigerian National Arrested in India with Cocaine in North Goa

A 42‑year‑old Nigerian national, identified as Omorigo Friday, has been arrested by the Goa Police Crime Branch in India for alleged possession of cocaine during a raid in Pilerne, North Goa, authorities said.

The arrest took place in North Goa, where Indian police have jurisdiction over drug enforcement under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Drug‑related offences in India are subject to criminal procedures that involve arrest, custody and prosecution by local law enforcement agencies.

Goa Police Crime Branch operatives seized 31.794 grams of a white crystal substance believed to be cocaine during the raid that led to Friday’s arrest, said Press Trust of India.

The seized substance was valued at approximately ₹15.89 lakh in the local market, according to the report.

Friday was taken into police custody following the recovery of the suspected contraband.

A subsequent search that followed the initial arrest led to the recovery of evidence tied to another suspect, 42‑year‑old Sudhir Paleinkar, a resident of Sangolda in North Goa, on 8 February, Goa Police said.

Both Friday and Paleinkar remain in custody as investigations proceed under India’s drug laws, the police statement added.

The arrest reflects enforcement of India’s narcotics legislation by the Goa Police Crime Branch in response to alleged possession and distribution of controlled substances.

Seizure of suspected cocaine and consequent detention of suspects follow procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as applied by Indian authorities.
