The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has warned the public to disregard fake invitation letters circulating online that claim to offer admission into the academy, the institution said in a statement on Tuesday.
The NDA is Nigeria’s premier military training institution responsible for officer cadet training and the education of military personnel.
Earlier in February, several social media posts showed purported NDA invitation letters claiming to offer admission letters and instructions to prospective candidates. The academy said it had not authorised such documents.
In a statement issued by the NDA’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Onyema Nwachukwu, the academy said it had not issued any invitation letters linked to recent online postings.
The statement read, “The NDA wishes to alert the public that it has not issued any invitation letters, and any such document in circulation is fake and should be disregarded.”
The academy said it had alerted security agencies about the fake documents and urged anyone in possession of them not to act on their contents.
The NDA emphasised that the only credible source of admission communication to candidates is through its official channels.
The academy’s warning highlights ongoing concerns about fake admission documents and fraudulent online postings purporting to be from educational and training institutions.
Security agencies have been notified by the NDA as part of steps to address the circulation of unauthorised documents.
