Kaduna to Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid, Says Gov. Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Sunday declared that the state would support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 general election, pointing to federal interventions and development projects as key reasons for the endorsement.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement on the All Progressives Congress (APC) nationwide electronic registration exercise, Sani highlighted what he described as tangible dividends of democracy under President Tinubu’s leadership.

According to the governor, Kaduna State aims to register 2.5 million APC members in the ongoing exercise, asserting that the party has become the dominant political force in the state.

He said the party’s growing influence was due to a combination of his inclusive development approach and key federal government interventions championed by Tinubu.

Sani listed several federal-backed projects in Kaduna State, including N1 billion allocated for the Kaduna State Light Rail project, which he described as unprecedented support for infrastructure in northern Nigeria outside Lagos.

He also noted that Kaduna had been selected as the pilot location for a major poultry development initiative, with federal approval of $200 million and projected job creation of at least 350,000. Sani said the project will support about 10,000 direct and indirect small businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises allied to poultry farming.

The governor commended the federal government for approving the construction of the Mando-Birnin Gwari road and the reconstruction of the Kwoi-Jema’a road, both of which he described as critical infrastructure projects for Kaduna.

Sani also highlighted collaborative efforts with the House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, which he said had yielded additional projects for the state’s northern senatorial district.

He acknowledged contributions by the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, particularly through the ACRESal programme to address erosion and climate-related challenges.

In outlining the development gains, the governor expressed confidence that these interventions would bolster APC’s standing within the state and contribute to broad support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The engagement with party stakeholders covered various local government areas across Kaduna’s three senatorial districts, according to the governor’s office.

Governor Sani’s endorsement adds to a series of public expressions of support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid from APC leaders and stakeholders in different regions of the country.
