Chief Ude Livinus has commented on the revenue assumptions contained in Enugu State’s ₦1.62 trillion 2026 budget signed into law by Governor Peter Mbah.
The budget projects ₦870 billion in Internally Generated Revenue for the year, with government officials stating that the state currently records daily revenue of about ₦2.5 billion.
Livinus noted that the state has outstanding pension and gratuity arrears estimated at over ₦36 billion, alongside contractor debts of about ₦40 billion.
He referred to claims by revenue officials that Enugu generated approximately ₦400 billion by the end of the 2025 fiscal year, drawing attention to the scale of growth reflected in the 2026 figures.
Major expenditure items in the budget include ₦30 billion for school feeding in smart schools and ₦135.5 billion for a rail project.
Other listed initiatives include the procurement of 14 aircraft, development of Enugu New City, construction of 260 smart schools, 260 hospitals, and road projects numbering over 1,000.
The budget was approved by the state legislature and signed by the governor. As at the time of reporting, details outlining the methodology behind the revenue projections have not been publicly disclosed.
